One of the highlights of the '2011 MTV VMAs' was a touching tribute to the late Amy Winehouse.
Close friend Russell Brand kicked things off with a personal tribute. The comedian reminisced about Amy's "incredible sound," comparing her to the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, and noted the effect she had had on other artists including his wife Katy Perry and Brit singer Adele.
Legendary jazz icon Tony Bennett then took to the stage to present footage of himself and Winehouse performing their duet ‘Body and Soul,’ filmed during their recording sessions at Abbey Road studios.
And last but not least, four time VMA nominee Bruno Mars picked up the tempo with a killer version of ‘Valerie’ featuring a full live jazz band!
Looking dazzling with a huge quiff and snappy blue 60’s suit, the ‘Billionaire’ hit maker wowed the crowd, performing under portraits of the late singer.
"Amy I love you darling" he sang.
“We’ll miss you baby.”
