Justin Timberlake is about to revolutionize television in the same way that he revolutionized bleached blonde curly hair and sexually ambiguous clothing in the late 90s.
JT recently announced that he will be executive producing a new MTV show called "The Phone". This show has been billed as the "real life Bourne Identity", and is based on a Dutch television series bearing the same name. Basically, each episode "begins with two hidden cell phones ringing on opposite ends of a major city. Once picked up, a mysterious guide gives contestants five seconds to concede whether or not they wish to play the game for a chance of winning a huge cash prize."
MTV US will no doubt pimp this concept into a must-see TV event. But on the same theme, we decided to brainstorm some ideas that could make equally exciting reality TV shows:
How about a show based on toilet seat covers, where contestants will race around the city putting toilet seat covers before people's cheeks touched the seats?
Or what about "The OW: Outer West", where we follow the glamorous lives of young socialites who live, work and date in Sydney's OW, following them to monster truck rallies and dinner parties at hot spots such as Hooters and Chilies?
No? Perhaps better, we'll stick to local music shows and leave the reality TV to the MTV US.
Still, we find it "ironic" that Justin is creating a reality TV show after he criticised The Hills girls and the network at the VMAs in Vegas last year. At that time, he challenged MTV to "play more damn videos".
That being said, we are sure that if Justin puts even half the effort on this show as he did to pop Britneys' cherry, it will somehow ring its way to being a success.
