With her porn star name now behind her, the artist formally known as Destiny Hope Cyrus has been recently experiencing an influx of risqu offers since the release of the supposedly "scandalous" photos in Vanity Fair. Particularly, it seems Playboy boss Hugh Hefner liked what he saw of Miley Cyrus' naked back, to the extent that he made a slightly inappropriate proposition towards her.
Hugh told Extra at the Playboy Mansion recently that he would love the 15-year-old tween queen to star in Playboy.
"Sure, she'd be welcomed in the magazine.," Hugh said. "(She is a) very pretty lady". He then elaborated this would not happen until she becomes of legal age, suggesting that while he may not be the creepiest geezer on planet earth for now, he'd doubtless grab her for the mansion shortly afterwards.
Despite the ickiness of the thought, the point needs to be made that Hugh's quote was obviously made in response to a specific question from Extra magazine; i.e. Playboy is less into little girls than gossip magazines appear to be, and more forthcoming about political standpoint. To this extent, Hugh defended Miley against the media lashing she has received in the past week, saying:
"I think to make such a big 'to do' over something as innocent as those photosis a reflection on how schizophrenic America is about sexuality."
Yet while puritanical America may have overblown the extent of the provocative nature of the Vanity Fair shots, unfortunately it is unlikely that those people shocked by the images would care about the opinion of someone who essentially brought nudity to the mainstream. Still, whose opinion do they habitually listen to? Let's venture to say that it's the gossip magazines.
And while we wouldn't put it past Playboy to stage a "Girl Next Door" style themed photo shoot once Miley came of age -involving 7 dwarfs, or at the very lease a few of the animal sidekicks Disney is so famous for - isn't it only women's magazines who paint little girls as grown women and barely grown women as little girls? Hayden Panetierre was a great example, and it got barely a squawk from the People-loving public.
The conclusion? Miley may have a lot of growing up to do, but teen stars generally learn to pimp before they pump. We think Playboy and/or sexual activity is the least of her worries. Being chewed and spewed by the G-rated media is far more likely to lead to rehab.
