Can She Make It Float?

Audrina Patridge is making a splash in the movie that cemented Jessica Alba as a box-office bottom-of-the-ocean bomb. Having put Playboy behind her, she's now living the "glamour model" dream, and deciding to be an actress in the upcoming film Into The Blue 2.

If you can put aside your incredulity that they're making a sequel to the first, which only made around $18 million at the US Box Office (compare to the four biggest hits of the year: Spider Man 3, Shrek 3, Transformers, and Pirates Of The Caribbean: At The World's End, which made more than $300 million each in the US), then you shouldn't find it hard to believe that they'd cast Audrina as a serious actress.

Further, keeping in mind that this new sequel is part of a package announced by MGM, which includes Legally Blonde 3, Wargames 3, The Cutting Edge 3 and Species 4, Audrina in a bikini is probably just about the hottest thing about it. Granted, Audrina's cossie possie might be less enticing than the original Jessica. But she's undoubtedly more enticing than the current Jessica - unless the public's warm and fuzzy feelings for whales are harnassed in creating a surprise box-office smash.

In the film, scheduled for release in 2010, Audrina is tipped to play a "no-nonsense, beautiful beach babe whose boyfriend caters to her every demand". And whether that requires her to act much or not, she may yet have harnassed a whole host of new followers by then.

In the recent US season finale of The Hills, mounting tensions between her and Lauren Conrad had a majority of Perez readers voting "Team Audrina". Want to know what mobilized all those opinions? You'll just have to wait till later on in the year to find out...
