It's the follow-up to her self-titled debut from 2006. It's also a bit of a running joke in the music industry, since no one wants to release it. As Hilton explained in a recent interview: "I'm figuring it out right now. I'm not sure which label I'm doing it with."
The actual music is supposed to consist of commercial club tunes. "It's very dance, like Kylie Minogue", was Hilton's take on the material. She also added that she wrote all the songs. Maybe that's what scared off all the industry A&R types? Time will tell.
Hilton's debut album ended up being released on her own label, Heiress Records. The critics weren't exactly kind when it came time to review it, and the whole thing fell off the radar pretty quickly especially after footage of Hilton singing live at Hugh Hefner's birthday surfaced (have a listen to hear Paris' real voice).
Infamously, graffiti artist Banksy and Danger Mouse 'commandeered' 500 copies of the CD, changed the cover and remixed the music inside before putting their bootleg copies back on store shelves. As you do. While most would cower into obscurity never to be seen again in public sans paper bag, the taunts did nothing to affect Paris's determination to crack the music biz. She either must be one tough cookie, or have no shame. Judging from her previous exploits, we're guessing it's the latter.
So yeah, the world waits with baited breath for the latest and greatest Paris Hilton album. No word on the title or the release date just yet, but we're thinking it'll be out early 2009. Or never.
