- Ashlee Simpson "Flashed" Pete Wentz On First Date

She's Definitely The Marrying Kind

The rumour mill is heating up and going into overdrive this week, with shouts that Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are set to tie the knot this weekend. The haste is explained in part by her reported "pregnancy", and garnished with claims that Ashlee's Pappa Joe is negotiating a sweet deal for wedding pics.

While neither the couple's reps, nor the couple themselves, will confirm or deny the rumours, Ashlee and Pete nonetheless took the opportunity to recently discuss how they first hooked up together on US radio station 98.7FM. Ashlee alleges that she had no idea who Fall Out Boy was when she started dating Pete, leaving her bisexual beau to send a photo of himself.

Or rather, leaving Pete's reps to email the said photo to Ashlee's reps, which is about as romantic as it gets in the world of Hollywood dating. (On that reckoning, all those TomKat rumours sound almost ordinary.)

Pete allegedly fell for Ashlee first, specifically asking his people for Ashlee's email, and Ashlee said she'd meet him only after deciding that the photo was sexy enough. And while the date allegedly went well (Pete says Ashlee "flashed him" and that it was "awesome"), he complains:

"I was in the friend zone with her for a good, solid year... I'd be, like, calling her; I'd be following her around like a puppy dog."

It seems not much has changed then, cos Pete and Ashlee are still pretty much joined at the wrist. And in the next few days, time will tell whether they're joined at the finger, too.
