Outspoken hip-hopper Kanye West has kicked off the 2009 MTV VMAs by crashing the stage during the announcement for the ’Best Female Video’.
Cutie pie crooner Taylor Swift beat both Lady Gaga and Beyonce to the Moonman and looked genuinely overwhelmed as she went on stage to accept the award for her smash-hit 'You Belong With Me'.
However in a déjà vu-triggering moment, Kanye invaded her moment of glory, grappled the microphone from her hands and ranted that the award should have gone to Beyonce.
“I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time [Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It]," he proclaimed while Bey’ looked on from the crowd, her gob well and truly smacked.
The protest didn’t go down well in Radio City Music Hall with an icy silence descending on the crowd followed by generous applause for Taylor as Kanye made his exit from the stage.
According to MTV’s network of Big Apple-based spies, Pink walked past the rapper’s seat during the next ad break and shook her head in disgust. Our insider informs us ‘Ye reacted to the dig by nonchalantly pashing his girlf, Amber Rose.
It’s not the first time Kanye has invaded the stage at an MTV awards bash: he famously went off his rocker at the 2006 MTV EMAs after his ’Touch The Sky’ clip was beaten to the Best Video gong by Justice Vs. Simian’s ’We Are Your Friends’.
