Last month, those Earls of Eyeliner returned to stamp their authority on the music world via ‘21st Century Breakdown’. Shooting to the top of the charts the world over (with platinum sales in New Zealand and Australia) critics and fans evidently agree: the latest offering has cemented Green Day’s rep as one of the most formidable rock bands in the world.

Now, to the delight of antipodean fans, the rockers are breaking the five year drought and announcing their impending return to Australia and New Zealand as part of their 21st Century Breakdown World Tour!

Green Day will rock arena stages in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland this December, for the first time since 2005.

However, as every fan knows, efforts to secure sought-after tickets are usually blighted by those pesky scalpers. Thank the good green grass that Green Day, (who have long held a well-earned reputation of looking after fans), have put a system in place to combat ticket scalping and deter the bottom feeders from mulching our hard earned concert dollars.

Remember the good old days of camping out over night with a few friends and your sleeping bag to get the best tickets? Well, those days are back; 300 GA standing section tickets will only be available to fans who line up at designated outlets. Each person will be limited to a maximum of 2 tickets each; essentially meaning the first 150 people in line will be guaranteed the hottest tickets in town.

The second initiative is to hold back the delivery of all tickets bought online, via phone or at outlets until November. Many auction sites currently require a seller to physically posess the product they are selling, so by holding back the delivery of the tickets, many auction sites will not allow the sale of tickets. Geddit?

Punters purchasing tickets via internet or phone will be issued with standard confirmation details; those purchased via outlets will be issued with a receipt as proof of purchase for their tickets only. Tickets go on sale Wednesday 1 July.
