Sorry Queen fans, it’s not good news – Brian May and Roger Taylor have nixed the possibility of releasing a new album of old demos featuring the late great Freddie Mercury.
Despite May and Taylor tantalising fans a few months ago by revealing that they were going through the band’s old material with the intention of putting together a selection of unreleased tracks, they’ve now backtracked, saying there “isn’t enough” material, according to NME.
“I've got to tell you, there won't be an album,” Roger said in an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock.
“There's just not enough and the last thing I want to do is have a sort of barrel-scraping exercise.”
However, before you go sobbing over your Queen memorabilia, there is some good news – Roger Taylor has also confirmed that the illusive Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson duets DO exist, and will be released in the new year!

“There's a couple of great tracks that Freddie recorded with Michael Jackson that Brian and I are working on and they are good,” Roger said.
“So at some point they will surface I think when we feel it's a good moment. I don't really want to ride any sort of wave there. So that's an interesting thing, but that will be probably later some point next year.”
Do you think the Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury duets will live up to the hype? Let us know by commenting below! Meanwhile, see why we’re still missing the Queen legend in the video below…
