Did Beyonce ‘steal’ the dance moves in her new video ‘Countdown’?
That’s what choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is claiming!
According to aceshowbiz.com, the Belgian choreographer has accused Bey of copying her routines – primarily a ‘split screen’ effect, and a routine which features three ballet dancers in the background.
De Keersmaeker, who has been a driving force in contemporary dance for over 30 years, said to a Danish blog:
"I didn't know anything about this. I'm not mad, but this is plagiarism."
Beyonce’s co-director Adria Petty previously spoke to MTV News about how she’d inspired the songstress by showing her some contemporary European dance.
She said: "I brought Beyoncé a number or references and we picked some out together. Most were German modern dance references, believe it or not." She added that the process was "evolving [and] spontaneous."
De Keersmaeker continued: "This is stealing. They took pieces from Achterland and Rosas danst Rosas.... What's rude is that they don't even bother about hiding it. They seem to think they could do it because it's a famous work … Am I honoured? Look I've seen local school kids doing this. That's a lot more beautiful."
It’s not the first time Beyonce has been accused of copying moves. Earlier this year, the hitmaker’s ‘Run the World (Girls)’ performance at the Billboard Music Awards came under fire when it was likened to the special effects used by Italian pop singer Lorella Cuccarini. Bey later admitted to AOL Music that she wasn’t copying, but merely inspired by the European songstress.
“My makeup artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini a year ago, and it inspired me so much. I then met with the talented people who worked on it. The technology and concept were so genius. Thank god for YouTube or I would have never been exposed to something so inspiring.”
In other Beyonce news, the starlet has revealed to Channel 7’s Sunday Night that her baby is due in February!
And while she admits it was a challenge keeping her pregnancy a secret until her great unveiling at the MTV VMAs in August, she said now she uses every opportunity to show it off.

She explained: "I am having so much fun, it has been the most fun time now that it has been announced.
"It was really difficult to conceal. But now I can be proud and excited about it, I'm having so much fun shopping - it's great.”
