Sure, the colder months bring their fair share of gripes; plummeting temperatures, wet socks and inside-out umbrellas… But it’s not all bad, winter does have its benefits. Sharing body heat, hot chocolates by warm toasty fires, cute accessories and - MTV Snow Jam 2010 at Thredbo in NSW!!
Bringing the event local for the second time, MTV are braving the frigid precipitation to bring you a concert like no other – a free live music event featuring local and internationally acclaimed acts Bliss N Eso, Operator Please and QLD DJ Duo, Stafford Brothers!

A six hour drive from both Sydney and Melbourne, the famous slopes of Thredbo offer 480 hectares of snow riding bliss to explore. And if you’d rather forgo the bruises, bumps and aching limbs that go hand in hand with snow sports, than rest assured, there will be number of 'hot distractions' at MTV Snow Jam 2010 to keep you entertained, including a swag of international and local snowboarders for MTV Snow Jam’s 2010’s Big Air comp!
In partnership with Burton Snowboards, the Big Air comp will see 20 riders including Canadian Burton pro snowboarders Mark Sollars and last years winner, Charles Reid battling it out on a big air jump to win prizes including a share of an $8,000 prize pool.
Other international riders set to compete include Will Jackways from New Zealand who will join local boarding stars Jye Kearney, Clint Allan, Ryan Tiene, Chris Decampo and Nick “Pistol” Gregory with more to be announced.
MTV Snow Jam was held in Falls Creek Victoria last year and New Zealand for the two years prior and has seen sets by Phrase, Cut Copy DJs, Lupe Fiasco, Savage and Mareko, The Mint Chicks, The Vines, Donavon Frankenreiter, The Grates, The Potbelleez, Cut Off Your Hands, P-Money, PNC, David Dallas, Opshop, Trouble Andrew and Phinesse. Attracting thousands, MTV Snow Jam has become synonymous with frost-bitten fun and unforgettable performances, all with the backdrop of breathtaking alpine scenery.
So if carving powder by day at one of Australia’s best terrain parks and kicking back to some sweet tunes by night sounds like a bit of fun to you, then stay tuned for more information.

Conditions of Entry
MTV Snow Jam is an over 16’s and licensed event.
Patrons will not be able to enter the event unless they have valid photo I.D. or are with a responsible parent or legal guardian.
Some of the artists appearing at MTV Snow Jam may use lyrics, language or gestures whilst entertaining that some people may find offensive. If such language or behavior concerns anyone it is advised that they do not to attend.
Alcohol, drugs, weapons, firearms, gas bottles, pets, umbrellas, skateboards, esky’s, marker pens, skis, ski poles, snowboards, chairs or glass are NOT permitted on site. Anything deemed dangerous by security staff will not be permitted. All bags/containers will be searched upon entry. Persons may be subjected to pat down body searches.
Studded belts, spike collars or any form of accessory may be deemed unsafe. It will be at security’s discretion whether or not items such as these will be allowed onto the site.
Possession and/or consumption of illegal substances will not be tolerated.
Any patron found to be intoxicated on arrival or within the event will not be permitted entry.
A small bag or backpack will be permitted, but it will delay admittance into the event due to searches.
No professional photography equipment is permitted. No recording devices of any kind will be permitted.
Patrons will be reminded to bring ID, important phone numbers, any medication they may need and warm clothing. If they have any chronic conditions or illness (ie asthma, diabetes, epilepsy) they must be sure to carry information regarding their condition & emergency contact number must be carried at all times.
Patrons will be asked to make sure they dress in accordance with the weather forecast and to wear sensible shoes & clothes and bring a rain coat if needed.
THE RIGHT OF ADMISSION IS RESERVED AND REMAINS AT MTV’S SOLE DISCRETION.
MTV RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANYONE WHO MISBEHAVES FROM THE EVENT.
Getting to Thredbo
By Air
Aeropelican operate daily flight services from Sydney to Snowy Mountains Airport Bookings can be made online at aeropelican.com.au Shuttle services operating from Snowy Mountains Airport to Thredbo Snowy Mountains Airport Shuttles 02 6452 4455
Qantas and Virgin Blue service Canberra Airport from major Australian cities. Canberra Airport is a 2.5 - 3 hour drive from Thredbo.
Shuttle transfers to and from the airport can be arranged. Several major car hire companies also hire from Canberra.
By Car
Just 6 hours drive from both Sydney and Melbourne. Approx 500km
The roads are clear for most of the year, but when the big snowfalls hit, chains may be required for 2 wheel drives. Chains can be hired in Jindabyne and Khancoban. When hiring they will need to know your tyre size and be sure to ask them about any fitting tips.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service collect park use fees upon entry to the park. You can purchase your pass from the Entrance Station 13km before you get to Thredbo, the Snowy Region Visitors Centre in Jindabyne, the National Parks Visitors Centre in Khancoban, or the Thredbo Newsagency. There are many Coach services that operate out of Canberra
Car Parking in Thredbo
Thredbo has over 2,500 car park spaces with both day and overnight parking available. It is free to park your car in Thredbo whether staying overnight or here for the day. (You will still need to pay the National Parks entry fee).
For those just driving in for the day, There is parking at the carpark just near Friday Flats. A free shuttle bus service operates around the village and to Friday Flat. In the evening the shuttle service operates until 9pm Sunday to Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights in busy times.
If staying overnight many lodges, apartments and chalets have on-site parking, so check when booking in, if not, there are designated overnight car parks.
