Growing up, many of our parents optimistically informed us that in order to become financially successful, we would need to study hard and aspire to respectable vocations like doctoring, lawyering or accountanting and the such.
However, it has become apparent that this is not necessarily true for our Gen Y peers. Replace studying for partying, blank stares, half sentences and lots of bitching and BAM! you're an instant millionaire. The proof? MTV's The Hills!
In Touch magazine recently revealed just what us Hills fans have been dying to find out. How much do these Hill's kids rake in to be filmed living/recreating scenes from their oh-so-glamorous real lives? The answer may result in some chair-falling action, so buckle up, spanky.
The star LC unsurprisingly makes the most, bringing in about $75,000 per episode closely followed by the villains of the piece Speidi, both making approx $65,000 per episode each. You knew, you can make a career out of being a couple of fame-whore douche bags after all!
This means LC will earn about 1.4 million for season 4,on top the dosh she gets from all of her side projects such as the not-so-fashioney fashion line, club appearances, endorsements and being a trust fund brat.
It has been largely rumored that LC insisted she be paid the most, incorporating this clause into her original contract; meaning the pay for other cast members is significantly less. But rest assured, they still make about as much as an Aussie brain surgeon. The rate of pay for the supporting cast is as follows:
Audrina Patridge: $35,000 per episode
Whitney Port: $20,000 per episode
Brody Jenner: $10,000 per episode
Lauren "Lo" Bosworth: $10,000 per episode
Stephanie Pratt: $8,000 per episode
So kids, practice your vacant stares, start a fight with your roommate, occasionally go on a date with a pretty boy and perhaps you can become a Gen Y-reality millionaire. Who said making money required work?
