While Mad’s rep denies the two had a falling out, all the evidence points to a major cat-spat between the a-list divas with an insider revealing:
“They don't speak. I can't tell you exactly why they had the falling out, but Gwyneth can be jealous and competitive."
The snitch also went on to say their alliance took a tumble when Mads split from hubby Guy Ritchie in 2008, and as a result left "Gwyneth and Madonna with less in common."
Gwen has even cryptically referenced the beef several times in public.
On her ‘Goop’ blog back in February she said:
"What do you do when you realize that although you many have years of history, and found real value in each other in times past, that you kind of don't like a friend anymore? That, after time spent with this person, you feel drained, empty, belittled or insulted. My father always used to tell me that, 'you can't make new old friends.' How do you distinguish if someone in your life makes you change for the better of if you are better off without them?"
She also spilled to British Vogue in May, "I'm having a situation right now with a friend where I'm feeling pretty angry."
Many thought the rumoured fight was just gossip gone silly when the ex-pals appeared chummy and posed at a Charity Benefit in New York City earlier this year but apparently it was all a farce.
Hollywoodlife.com reported a source saying: “It was to show good face. It’s too much for Gwyn to keep up that friendship.”
