Most of us can’t imagine a life before Facebook.
Before poking, tagging pictures, status updates, and of course stalking our exes became totally socially acceptable.
Now meet Mark Zuckerberg, 26, the youngest billionaire in the world, who made it happen…
Already being hailed as the film of the year, ‘The Social Network’ is Mark’s tale - with a decent dose of Hollywood drama chucked in for good measure, of course!
The true-to-life flick, which is currently smashing box-office records across the States, is not one to be missed when it hits our shores next week.
Mark’s portrayed by the utterly convincing, born to play a geek, Jesse Eisenberg, who’s awkward twitching, super-fast speech and general uneasiness is so spot on, it’s even got him tipped for an Oscar.
The story begins in a Massachusetts’ bar in 2004, with Mark, an ultra smart student at the prestigious Harvard University, being dumped.
When the girl of his dreams compares dating him to “dating a stairmaster” - a sweet combination of bitterness, beer and his best friend eventually leads to the creation of “thefacebook.com”
Later dropping the “the,” as well as his business partner, and picking up a new one in the form of super smooth entrepreneur Sean Parker - played by Trousernake Justin Timberlake - “facebook.com” is finally born.
But as the film’s tagline states, “You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.”
This rings true throughout the 120 minute runtime, alongside the backdrop of two rather major lawsuits…
Leaving the cinema you’ll probably be thinking three things - firstly, what can I create? Secondly, what would I do with $6.9 billion? And lastly, I better check my facebook.
Don’t miss ‘The Social Network’ when it hits cinemas across Australia October 28!
Meanwhile, check out a glimpse of what’s to come in the video clip below...
