The story goes that fashion designer Dawn Simonrangkir was demanding payment from the Hole singer for a few thousand dollars worth of clothes – Courtney responded by letting rip on the designer via twitter, accused her of criminal activities, using her image to promote her designs and even calling her a ''drug-pushing prostitute''!
"She has received VAST amounts of money from me over 40,000 dollars and I do not make people famous and get raped TOO! [sic]" Courtney twittered at the time.
Not surprisingly, Simonrangkir was livid and is now taking the singer to court for defamation. According to news.com.au, Simonrangkir’s lawyer is likely to argue that the four day tirade damaged the repution of the designer and her fashion career.
“There has never been any case like this one before," he said.
But a lawyer for Courtney begs to differ, saying: "We don’t believe there’s any defamation, and even if there were defamatory statements, there was no damage."
The court case means the erratic singer is the first celebrity to have legal action launched against her for social media activities. Congratulations Courtney!
