ARIA Best Female Artist Sarah Blasko has a bee in her stylish bonnet – she wishes people would stop being surprised that Australia has more than one talented female artist.
Thank you, very much.
The 'As Day Follows Night' artist gently lost her rag at the official ARIAs press conference last night (Nov 26) when more than one journalist asked her why she thought there were so many talented women around.
Sarah said: “You know, I don’t know how to answer that. I find it quite patronising. Why shouldn’t there be talented women? There have always been talented female artists throughout history...
“I don’t know why people say I’m doing it for ‘the sisterhood’ because I sang on stage with [Kate Miller-Heidke] and [Lisa Mitchell]. If there were two or more boys singing together on stage people wouldn’t say: ‘Oh you’re doing it for the brotherhood.’
“I’m sorry,” she said politely. “But I find it demeaning.”
Don’t be sorry, Sazza. We agree!
