Aussie songbird Sia has revealed she turned down the chance to work with globe-conquering pop diva, Duffy.
The 33-year-old Adelaide gal was approached by Duffy’s management and asked if she would donate one of her ballads to the Welsh warbler’s new album.
But she answered them with an unequivocal: no!
Sia, who plays the ’Homebake’ festival and several live shows in Oz in December, explained: “I may have f***ed myself over there…Duffy's people were really really trying to get a song to put out as a single but I kept thinking I didn't have enough ballads for my next album so I said no. Now I hear it among the rest of the songs on my record (’We Are Born’) and it doesn't fit. I should have given it to her.
"Oh well, there goes about $100,000, goodbye $100,000. It's a good learning curve as to what an idiot I can be."
We hear at MTV Australia have been massive fans of Sia for quite a while. After putting poptastic hits ’Buttons’ and ’Soon Will Be Found’ on high rotation, we invited the songstress to perform at the 2009 Vodadfone MTV Australia Awards.
Even though Sia was still fairly unknown on the Aussie music scene, the gamble paid off and she was a massive hit at the star studded awards show.
Keep doin' what you're doin' Sia – we love ya!
