Yep, it's official. The world has gone entirely and utterly PC crazy.
To you and me it might sound like a modish piece of jewelry, but to outranged anti-violence groups, the machine gun pendant that Lily Allen was rocking last week is 'irresponsible'.
The cheeky songstress is known for her wild ways and her habit of courting controversy, but we're pretty sure the fashion-aware Lily didn't orchestrate this little tidbit on purpose.
According to reports, Lily met with London mayor Boris Johnson to outline proposals to reduce knife crime after she posted this blog:
'Please can everyone stop stabbing each other in the UK.
'It's really sad, my thoughts are with all the families affected by these heinous crimes.
'We need to have a knife amnesty, we should put on a big concert to raise awareness and stop the violence, Boris, if you're listening call me man.'
Problem is, Lily was spotted sometime later wearing necklace with a machine gun pendant.
Lyn Costello, from anti-violence group MAMAA, says: "She is glamorising the use of guns. It's totally irresponsible. She's a role model and people look up to her. The last thing we want is people looking at her and thinking guns are fashionable."
"I'm really disappointed in her. She had a meeting with the Mayor saying she's worried about knife crime but is she not worried about gun crime too. If she's really worried about violent crime then she shouldn't wear a necklace that promotes guns."
Oh dear. It appears that either these groups need to familiarise themselves with 21st century fashion, or Miss Allen's stylist needs to regulate her choice of clothing after addressing controversial issues.
Since fresh memories still prevail of Lily's distinctive dress choice at The Glamour Women of the Year Awards (decapitated Bambis complete with hot pink blood, read story here), we're guessing the latter won't be happening any time soon!
