Rock group The Killers are considering releasing an album of covers before the year's end.

According to front man, Brandon Flowers, the group have been going through their MP3 collections looking for songs they might like to rework.

“It’s something that we’ve always talked about doing and we’re still talking about,” said Flowers. “It’s difficult for each of us to pick songs that represent us as individuals. I mean, I have a lot of personalities myself! I’ve gone through everything from Neil Diamond to The Cars.”

Drummer Ronnie Vanucci, has come up with his own list. Aside from “messing around with a couple of Fleet Foxes songs”, he's also name dropped Genesis, Tom Waits, Cyndi Lauper and Iggy Pop as potentials. The band has previously covered Dire Straits' 'Romeo and Juliet' and Joy Division's 'Shadowplay' for the ‘Closer’ soundtrack, so they're not exactly new to this. They have also been known to perform Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' live.

The band has a mobile studio set up on their tour bus and are said to be tinkering with a few ideas as they travel the road. Given the decidedly lukewarm response their latest album, 'Day & Age', an LP of covers could see the band back on a winning streak.
