Move over Britney Spears, you're guest-star seat barely got cool before Speidi jumped on this publicity pony!
The CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother has become the unofficial wagon for fallen stars to regain their stardom via the sitcom, hosting the likes of Heidi Klum, Enrique Iglesias, Mandy Moore, James Vander Beek and the comeback queen Miss Britney Spears.
The sitcom is becoming the Chteau Marmont of television, with ratings surly benefiting from the star guest appearances.
News broke this morning of The Hills alum Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt signing up to the popular show for on episode due to air in January, reports UsMagazine.com.
According to a statement from CBS, the pair "will be playing magazine-cover versions of themselves as the character Marshall (Jason Segall) desperately searches for a place to 'read a magazine' while at the office. Montag and Pratt will taunt and tease Marshall from the confines of his current copy of Them Weekly."
Sounds like a baby cameo but it provides the umbrella to a little more precious publicity for the openly Republican couple, and of course they were reached for comment! "Heidi and I are honoured to be part of such a successful show," Pratt told the site. "I don't want to give anything away ... but I'm the mother."
Thank goodness. The Hills has been a little too quiet lately for our liking, apart from a supposed Lauren Conrad airport freak out that was reported yesterday and, like music to our ears, we here at MTV felt everything was right with the world. Hills withdrawals? Mmm maybe just a little....
Reportedly a Perez Hilton reader witnessed a very dishevelled Lauren Conrad almost reduced to tears when here name was paged by an airline attendant to pick up a stand-by ticket at the counter.
The reality star apparently "pitched a fit, and was almost driven to tears because she thought people would start talking to her and bothering her. But no one even cared."
Earlier today the Laguna Beach cast-off took to her Myspace blog to clear the air.
"Hey Guys!! So, I don't normally read or even care about things like this, but a friend just showed me a "Page Six" story. Apparently they are reporting that someone watched me throw a fit and start crying because they called my name over the speaker at JFK... Really? While it is a very entertaining story, I just don't think that highly of myself. Anyway... Happy Monday!! Hope you all like tonight's episode!!"
Perfectly timed for a fresh Hills ep dontcha' think? Maybe Heidi and Spencer aren't the only queens of media manipulation. We love it!
