Forget everything you know about the Black Eyed Peas, because according to Will.I.Am, not only is the band years ahead of the competition and ready to serve up something "totally, totally different", but they should considered a brand, not a band!
The producer-slash-rapper told the Daily Star:
"You always have to look far ahead. The listeners four years from now - that's who I’m looking at, that's where I’m switching it up towards.
"You have to keep people guessing. As soon as people know what you're going to do, it isn't fun anymore.
"Our only competition is ourselves. If you go on iTunes, where it says 'Listeners also liked…' each of our albums has totally different artists that the fans liked. We are the only group that's like that."
The super-star group, who only released their album ‘The Beginning’ a few months ago, already have another album in the pipeline, and according to Will.I.Am the new album is going to serve up its fare share of surprises for fans.
He added: "The new project after 'The Beginning' is going to be totally, totally different again. All I'll say is, it ain't music."
In another interview with Metro, Will.I.Am also revealed:
"Black Eyed Peas haven't changed at all - we just got smarter. I hit the target like a marksman now. The turning point was meeting the cats in different marketing agencies. I started looking at Black Eyed Peas as a brand, not a band." .
