And the creative director of the eye-popping gem, Josh Randall, has been speaking to MTV about how it all came about.
He explained: "It all started around a chance meeting between Dhani Harrison (George Harrison’s son) and Van Toffler, the head of MTV.
“Harrison was apparently a big fan of Harmonix (the computer game developer) because of their work on the ‘Guitar Hero’ franchise. MTV had just acquired the developer, so Harrison was wondering what Toffler thought about doing a rhythm game with a full band, rather than just guitars.
“This was right around the time Harmonix was already hard at work on ‘Rock Band,’ a game that offered just that.”
No sooner than you could say ‘Hey Jude’, the game was being put into production with some rather big name shareholders. Namely: Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and George’s widow, Olivia Harrison.
The game is available on PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and Wii.
