- 50 Cent Delays Album Release

Jay Z, Eminem And Fiddy - No New Music Till 2009

If you believe the whispers, 50 Cent's new album title, 'Before I Self Destruct', just may be a self fulfilling prophecy!

According to Perezhilton.com, the rapper's fourth album was originally scheduled to hit shelves in early December, (no doubt to make nice Christmas stocking fodder), but with the announcement that the album won't be seeing the light of day until 2009, several media outlets are claiming the delay is because the first single did not perform as expected in the states.

However, the official word from his label Interscope was that Fiddy was rushing to meet the target, but "with the deadline to secure advertising and retail placement for the album imminent," the rapper decided to wait until next year.

Fiddy fans currently sobbing into their puffer jackets can take solace that the delay won't extend far into the year, according to the official press release.  And the silver lining is that he will pack it with extra features including a DVD about the life of his late pal Jam-Master Jay.

"Times are hard," he said. "Everyone is trying to make the most of what they have. I want to give my fans something extra for their hard-earned dollars. They'll get a free bonus when they pick up the album," reported Starpulse.com.

50 has the single and video for 'Get Up' out now, and according to MTV.com, the G-Unit star promises more before the album drops, namely in the form of a Dr Dre styled track he 'stole' from Eminem during their recording session.  With Ems blessing of course.

"We created some music," he said of Slim Shady. "I went to Detroit recently. One song I really liked it and he liked it and he kept it for his album. I went back and made two more songs. We got 'Norman Bates Motel' out of that. It's exciting."

'Norman Bates Motel' is slated to appear on 'Before I Self Destruct'. In addition to the music, 50 is producing a film with the same name as his album.

50 Cent isn't the only rapper making fans wait - Jay-Z and Eminem have already pushed the release of their new albums back to 2009.  Bring it on - we're getting impatient!
