The Prodigy have a new best friend - Dave Grohl. Apparently the Foo Fighters drummer got in contact a while back and they're now best-buds. Speaking with NME, Liam Howlett said that he had been exchanging music files with Grohl for the last year and the drummer also appears on The Prodigy's forthcoming album, 'Invaders Must Die'.
It makes sense the Foo Fighters announced a while back that they are on hiatus, namely so they can stick their fingers in a few more musical pies. (read story here) and by all accounts, it's sounds like a mash made in musical heaven.
"Dave emailed me, asking what I was up to, and asked if he could send some stuff", explained Howlett. The two then sent tracks back and forth via email, with Grohl ultimately laying down drums for a track called 'Run With Wolves'.
According to their official website, The Prodigy are set to release the new album on 2 March 2009. The group are touring around Australia in early 2009 as part of the Big Day Out line-up, so that would certainly tie in nicely. That said, we wouldn't be holding our breath; Howlett is an infamous perfectionist and he's quite happy to tinker with an album for years before it sees a release. After all, the group's last official release was 2004's 'Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned'.
