It’s been only two years since they first formed, but Short Stack have proved that while a big fancy record deal, a marketing campaign and a whole lotta moolahmay go along way, all you really need to crack the game is an intimate knowledge of Myspace, YouTube and SMS and some very fit thumbs.

Thanks to their self made 'documentaries', the boys from Budgewoi currently hold the enviable title of Australia’s biggest band on YouTube (they have a combined 2.5 million views) and their following is growing by the second.

The boys are here to prove that ‘Stack Is The New Back’, and by all accounts, it seems the Stack lovin’ public is all ears.

This week, their long awaited debut album stormed the ARIA charts at #1; so fresh from their success, MTV talks to short stack about screaming fans, keeping in real and Power Puff Girls.

MTV: How've your family and friends reacted to the new Short Stack status?

B: Our family and friends are pretty supportive, really. I think you know who your true friends are... When you go over to their house and they're not asking you to sign things for their friends and stuff.
S: But at the same time it's cool when a kid you went to high school with and you were mates with rings you up and he's like, 'oh, my cousin wants to speak to you, they don't believe I know you' or something like that. That's a bit cool.
A: My Dad tries to take full advantage of it. He cracks onto our fans' parents. He's a single swinger, ladies, so heyyy.'

MTV: Is there advice you would give to people who are keen to give the industry a crack?

S: The main point of advice that I would give is 'don't listen to your music teacher at school or your parents'.
A: I was going to say, don't listen to the old goobers up in the head of your label.
S: The industry fat cats.
A: Because most of the ideas they've come up with have been (thumbs down), so we pretty much tell them how to do it and that has ended up good so...
B: I think you've just gotta keep at it. You've gotta trust yourself and your band mates. Just got to give it a shot every time.

MTV: You guys have girlfriends?

S: Swingers.
A: We're all swingin' bachelors. We like to slut ourselves around.
S: Do we?
A: Well, I do.

MTV: Do screaming girls freak you out?

S: It's kind of, like, part of our life now so not really.
A: Think it pumps you up a little
B: There's a time and a place for it though... 'Cos I don't think we'd like to be eating cereal in our bedroom with screaming girls outside our window. Not that it's happened to me, but yeah...

MTV: You guys have a huge online following. Do you have any spooky cyber stalking stories?

S: Yeah, definitely. People pretend that they're going out with us, we're married to them or that we fuck them and all these weird things, so that's a bit strange.
A: And you get these really attractive people on Myspace adding you, and then you look at them and all the photos have just been uploaded and they're like all new to it...
S: Yeah, a lot of people create fake profiles to talk to us, with like pictures of models
A: "Hi, my name's Starla and I'm really into you", they're really like a 12-year-old girl. Or boy.

MTV: If your music had a recipe, what would be the essential ingredients?

B: What are the Power Puff Girls ingredients? Sugar and Spice and all things nice or something.
S: That was so gay.
A: How do you even know that?
S: I don't know, I guess it would be punk. We grew up listening to The Ramones and Blink 182 and stuff like that. Really into The Killers - all that kind of stuff.

MTV: If you guys put out an MTV show, what would it be?

S: 'Sexy Bitch Fun Action Happy Hour'.
A: We're already amazingly entertaining as we are, so it would have to be just a reality show.
B: We should do that and put it on YouTube. Good idea.

Short Stack will embark on their biggest tour to date, touring nationally in December on the ‘Stack Is The New Black’ Tour. For more information get to www.myspace.com/shortstackband
