The bash takes place on September 13 in New York and we can’t wait to see which diva is crowned queen of the evening.
Beyoncé gets the nod for: (get ready for this…) Video Of The Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Choreography, Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Special Effects, Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction all for ’Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’.
Referring to the countless imitations of the iconic clip, Be said: “I've spent so much time watching all the great versions people created all around the world. It's beautiful to feel you touch people and bring a song to life with a video."
Meanwhile, GaGa, who, let’s not forget only burst onto the scene in 2008, is up for: Best New Artist; Best Pop Video, Video Of The Year and Best Female Video for ’Poker Face’; Best Direction, Best Special Effects, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Editing (phew!) for ’Paparazzi’.
In typically dramatic fashion, an excited Lady gushed: "After years of hustle in New York City, where we made our art videos in bars, myself and the Haus of Gaga are honoured to receive 9 nominations for the 2009 VMAs.
“We believe in the immensity and the promise of 'showbiz' and will continue to give it mouth-to-mouth, till its vomiting return. All you need is a camcorder, a flashlight, and one truly GREAT idea.”
Elsewhere, Britney got an impressive seven nods, while Kanye West, Coldplay and Eminem picked up four, Green Day notched up three and Jay-Z scooped two.
The 2009 MTV VMA's premiere’s on MTV Australia, Monday September 14 @ 4pm (AEST).
