Well we didn’t see this one coming! Fans will be shocked to hear Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are getting divorced!
According to TMZ, Jessica Simpson’s little sis filed a document to Los Angeles Superior Court, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the split. The talented pair, who tied the knot in May 2008, have a two year-old son, Bronx.
Confirming the sad news in an official statement, they said: “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce.”
They went on to add, “We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority.”
According to TMZ, Ashlee is seeking custody of the tot, with visitation rights to her soon-to-be ex hubby.
We all assumed the celeb duo were in marital bliss, as only days ago Pete publicly declared his devotion to his singer and actress wife, Tweeting,
“Don’t forget 2 notice-when I look into the lil dudes eyes & smile, the way he loves. I realize @ashsimpsonwentz is a good moma + so much more.”
