'MTV Snow Jam 2010' will steam up your screens on MTV Australia, September 5 @ 4pm (AEST).

It’s the day all you winter junkies have been waiting for - ‘MTV Snow Jam 2010’ is finally here!

That’s right - Aussie’s hottest winter festival of the year, is just about to kick-off here in Thredbo – and we’re here to brave the sub-zero temps and icy slopes to bring you all the latest backstage news from the bash – which will steam up your screens on MTV Australia, September 5 @ 4pm (AEST).

ARIA-Award winning hip-hop stars Bliss N Eso, indie-pop faves Operator Please, and DJ Duo The Stafford Brothers are all here at the famous 480 hectares of snow riding bliss, ready to take to the stage and warm up the waiting crowd!

Speaking to MTV ahead of their performance, Bliss N Eso revealed why they’re so stoked to get on the stage.

“We’ve been to the snow before, but we’ve never actually performed ON the snow. So this is definitely an interesting experience for us,” says member Max.

“Fans should be expecting some explosive times during certain tracks.”

And as well as gargling with plenty of New Zealand’s famous Manuka honey to keep their voices tip-top, band mate Tariq reveals he’ll be taking some extra precautions to handle the unpredictable weather.

“I’m going to have to make sure that the snow doesn’t fall on my equipment and electrocute me. I mean that would be an awesome show to see me go with like a bang!”

But it’s not all work work work for the lads, who are heading off on a US tour tomorrow.

“John and I will be having a go at some snowboard tricks for sure. We’ll be performing some aerial acrobatic cool tricks with our snowboards,” says Tariq.

“The tricks will be mainly falling on bums and knees of course.”

Meanwhile someone who’s sure to show the trio up on the slopes is MTV VJ Erin McNaught!

The self-confessed snowboard lover, who’ll be hosting the event alongside Ruby Rose, gave us her best tip on staying stylish in the snow.

“Layer Up!” She says. “There’s noting worse than being cold when you’re in the snow. If you put on heaps of layers then you can just stay out there for hours.”

And that’s certainly good advice for those getting ready to watch the huge swag of international and local snowboarders compete at ‘MTV Snow Jam’s 2010 Big Air Comp’ this afternoon.

In partnership with Burton Snowboards , the Big Air comp will see 20 riders, including Canadian Burton pro snowboarders Mark Sollars and last years winner, Charles Reid , battle it out on a big air jump to win a range of top prizes, including a share of an $8,000 prize pool!

'MTV Snow Jam 2010' takes place today (Thursday August 26) and will steam up your screens on MTV Australia, September 5 @ 4pm (AEST).

'MTV Snow Jam 2010' is sponsored by Jagermeister and Schwarzkopf Taft Full On.
