Australia just can’t get enough of the Foo Fighters– and it looks like the love is reciprocated, because the rockers are returning down under for the second time this year!
The six-time Grammy Award winning hit-makers, whose explosive seventh album ‘Wasting Light’ has been soaring up the charts, will be bringing their brand of awesome to major cities in December this year in what will be their very first stadium tour. But despite being one of the highest selling and most loved rock acts in the world, lead singer David Grohl says the mighty Foo are still anxious about upgrading to stadiums and selling enough tickets!
He told the Sydney Morning Herald:
"Could you imagine being so presumptuous that you just decide we're back and we're playing the biggest place you have?" he asked.
"I don't know how you guys see our band, but we don't see our band that way. We still see ourselves as the band that won the lottery and wound up playing Wembley. We don't feel entitled to your stadiums," he said.
But by all accounts their Aussie fans beg to differ. The last time the Foo’s hit our shores, the rockers took immediate action upon hearing of the natural disasters that affected Queensland and Christchurch. They went on to raise over $1 million for the relief funds, and won some major kudos in the process.
And it gets better – opening for the ‘Rope’ grinders will be the band behind the ‘Best Song In The World’ aka the one and only Tenacious D! It’s been four years since Jack Black and Kyle Gass blew fans away Down Under, but once again, crowds can look forward to getting shred to pieces on a sonic voyage to rock heaven.
Plus, there’s still more bands to be added to the grunting and sweating line-up, so stay locked to MTV Classic for announcements as they come in! Tickets go on sale Monday July 18, so look sharp!
