While on the outside he’s used to countless luxuries and floods of attention from fans, in jail Lil Wayne is simply one of the prisoners.
So much so, that the ‘On Fire’ hit-maker has been ordered not to sign any autographs during his stay behind bars.
His officers at New York’s River’s Island prison told TMZ they wouldn’t be making any allowances for his fame.
Correction Department Spokesman Stephen Morello said, “Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here.”
He also insisted that Weezy never requested additional protective custody, adding “It’s his choice.”
The hip-hop star is serving a year long sentence on [attempted] gun possession charges, but could be released in just eight months if he sticks to good behaviour.
And perhaps he’ll emerge with a new hit too. Ahead of his sentence he revealed plans to take an Ipod loaded with music he could write to.
