Woke up incredibly jet lagged and decided a spot of shopping might be the only fix. Hit up Rodeo Drive, Melrose Avenue, Beverly Hills Centre and Sunset Boulevard - I even got a spray tan at the infamous Sunset Tan and left looking remarkably orange and oompa loompa like!
Met up for a drink with a freelance New Zealand-based journalist and her friend who does the PR for Tourism New Zealand from here in L.A. (what a job!) before they headed off to the Taylor Swift concert that was on next to the hotel. As was the Red Hot Chili Peppers gig - where else in the world can you have a VMAs set up, the Chili Peppers and Taylor Swift all within 20 metres of each other?!
Later I went and met my good friend and uber Hollywood photographer, Hareth, for drinks at the Roosevelt before going to a party within the hotel called 'Beachers Mad House.'
The name was totally fitting – it was a legitimate mad house! The venue was set up like a circus with a different act every 10 minutes and we were seated in a front row table. Think midgets, hugely obese women doing the 'Single Ladies' dance in lingerie, magicians, a cross-dressing cover band and even a surprise performance by Dirt Nasty!
We were sitting next to Holly Madison (Hugh Hefner's ex), behind us were Nicky and Paris Hilton with Frankie Delgado from 'The Hills', Emma Roberts and comedian Dane Cook! I think I spent the whole night with a double chin from my jaw being permanently on the floor - what a crazy night!
Kicked off the day by catching up with the girls from our International PR team and having a big pow-wow about the next couple of days events. We then made the mission to the MTV Santa Monica office where I got to meet and work with the team there! We organised credentials for our press for the radio forum and made sure all was in order before heading back to the hotel.
Later that night I went over to a bar called Thirsty Crow on Sunset Boulevard to catch up with my buddies Sam and Jono Cottee from kick ass Aussie label Vanguard. And what’s a night out in L.A. without meeting up with infamous MTV man Darren McMullen? I must say, he's one of my most favourite people in the world and he managed to keep us all entertained with his stories of fast cars and fast women!
The good thing about L.A. (sometimes) is that all the bars close at 2am, so you have a forced curfew. Ideal for me, because I have a couple of huge days ahead!
Check back during the week for Milly's next update where she'll be bringing you more insider goss from the MTV VMAs!
