His pal Royce Da 5’9 has revealed that Eminem assumes he’ll go home empty handed from the ceremony, which takes place at Los Angeles Staples Centre on February 13.
“He doesn’t think he’s gonna win anything" Royce told MTV News.
"He wouldn’t bet me, though. But I think he honestly thinks he’s not gonna win. Which is ridiculous.”
In previous years every solo album released by the ‘Recovery’ MC has been nominated for Best Rap Album, and with the exception of his 2004 album 'Encore' he's taken home the gong each time.
This time around Eminem has been nominated not only for Best Rap Album, but also Best Song for ‘Not Afraid’ and Record of the Year along with Rihanna for ‘Love The Way You Lie’. He’s also been nominated twice for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Solo.
Royce says he’ll be supporting his long-time friend, “I think he’s gonna win. We’re rooting for him.”
Slim is up against Bruno Bars, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys for Record of the Year, and Lady Gaga and Katy Perry for Album of the Year.
