Owl City is still sitting pretty at the top of the Australian chart with the debut single ‘Fireflies’.

Adam Young, who describes himself as a “shy boy from the middle if nowhere in southern Minnesota” is still at no1 after a whole month. He even beat off stiff competition from popstar Ke$ha, who’s single ‘Tik Tok’ came in at 2nd place.

And it’s not just us Aussies who love the US star. The electro genius, who topped the charts in the States before Christmas, has also scored himself a no1 spot in the UK.

Less than a year ago the former warehouse worker had never played for anyone other than his parents, who overheard him making music in the basement.

“I had nothing to do, so I started making with music with some friends,” he said. “But I had my own ideas, so I went off and started doing my own stuff with this ghetto little setup I had.”

Gushing about his new found success he added, “It’s a little scary. I went from having nothing to having, well, a lot.”
