A few days ago, a video surfaced which showed the hit maker performing at a concert in Guyana, South America. The footage showed Akon trying to crowd surf to reach a camera stand 100 meters away. But when he got there, it appeared that a particularly clingy female fan had the misfortune of colliding with Akon's closed fist. The incident came just a year after he was charged by police for allegedly throwing a fan into the crowd during a gig in Fishkill, New York.
The R&B hit maker has vehemently denied the allegations, and he has his own video footage to prove it. Akon's publicist has just released a new tape, taken from another angle which shows a very different version of events.
His rep tells WENN, "The unedited footage shows Akon struggling to find his balance and accidentally knocking into her (one woman). He did not let her fall and gave her a hug and then they started dancing. You can see her smiling."
Concert promoters Hits & Jams Entertainment also dismissed the claims - insisting no complaints were made by fans. A statement from the company reads, "We are shocked to hear that there is a video clip circulating that suggests Akon treated a fan badly during his August 30th performance in Guyana. There were no incident reports stemming from the event. Despite a late start, the concert was a tremendous success and we hope that Akon will come back soon."
