Soulful singer Angel Tupai has been voted off ‘X Factor Australia’ following a judges deadlock.
The judges were evenly split in their decision on who should be sent home, Tupai or fellow female vocalist Samantha Jade, bringing the competition to a deadlock decided by public vote.
19-year-old Angel was sent home after receiving the least votes from the public, a fact which shocked her mentor Natalie Bassingthwaighte.
“I’m speechless,” she said.
“Your voice is sent from above. This is just the beginning for you.”
And it seems all of the judges were upset at seeing Tupai and Samantha Jade in the bottom two.
“This is an absolute tragedy” revealed Guy Sebastian.
“Whoever we lose tonight, it’s wrong at this stage [of the competition],” Ronan Keating continued.
This marks the second time Angel has hit the bottom two. She recently survived a sudden death sing-off against ‘Over 25’ competitor Justin Standley.
“It has been an incredible ride,” Tupai said.
“I’m happy that I came here to do what I wanted to do.”
International acts Jay Sean and Psy performed on the show last night, with Mel B even joining the K-Pop sensation to do the infamous pony dance!
“My daughter will kill me if I don't do this,” she announced, before launching into the routine alongside the chart-topping star.
