The world went into a frenzy yesterday (Dec 23) as news spread like internet wildfire that Miley Cyrus had died.

Fear not, fans - it's not true.

But get this, the person who started the rumour was British socialite and rock star's kid, Peaches Geldof.

The dizzy 'It' girl Tweeted that she'd heard from "a friend in the industry" that the Disney doll had passed away but no one knew about it yet.

With Twitterers flooding Peaches' inbox saying the claims weren't true and with others posting that they'd sighted Miley looking fine and well in London, Peaches was forced to retract the 'news'.

She later Tweeted: "Didn't want to cause distress by tweeting that I'd heard that Miley had died. Turns out it was thankfull a rumour. Glad to hear that x"

Who made it your job to inform the world anyway, Peaches? Jeesh.
