Chris Martin and his movie star wife are the poster kids of a clean-living lifestyle - or so they would like us to believe…
The Coldplay frontman has come clean about drugs, drinking and loneliness, saying that the Hollywood lifestyle isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
“Success and fame, alcohol and drugs – we’ve been through all of those things,” he confessed to the Daily Star.
"They’re just pitfalls and that comes from a lot of travelling and a lot of down-time.”
And while he might seem to have the picture perfect life, he added that there was a “sadness” in his life.
“As you get older, you have kids, but there’s also more sadness.
“Maybe the contrast makes the happy times more so.”
And there’s plenty for Coldplay to be happy about at the moment. They’ve just released their fifth album 'Mylo Xyloto', were honoured by Q Magazine two nights ago by being named ‘The Best Band In The World’ and they’ve got a hot new single on the charts which features an unlikely collaborator – Rihanna!
Talking about the new single 'Princess Of Russia', Chris said:
“Most people, if they were asked who they would like to collaborate with, would pick Rihanna – she’s amazing.”
“We had this song written for her during the Rated R period and we didn’t want to give it away. It’s the best singing on a Coldplay album, ever.
“Rihanna was the only one on our collaborator list. We don’t really do duets and that will be our only one for a while.”
