It’s bad news for Aussie Janet Jackson fans – the pop icon has cut short her tour Down Under.

The ‘Together Again’ singer has announced she’s heading back to the US to support her family during the trial of her late brother Michael Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray.

"When I planned these shows, the schedule in California was completely different,” she said in a statement on her official website. “After talking with my family last night, I decided we must be together right now.”

Instead of her three scheduled shows in Melbourne this week, the Grammy Award winner will take to the stage for a one-off performance at the city’s Rod Laver Arena on November 3. Her other gigs in Sydney and on the Gold Coast are unaffected.

"I want to thank my fans in Australia for their love, support and understanding," she added.

“This saddens me in so many ways.”

Meanwhile, US rapper Flo Rida has also left Aussie fans disappointed after pulling out of the ‘Fat As Butter’ festival and a club show at Mounties in Sydney.

Taking to his Twitter page, the hip hop star simply said,

"Australian fans, I was looking forward to performing for you but due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn't able to do so last night".

Following his vague explanation, a statement from ‘Fat As Butter’ festival bosses read,

"We are extremely disappointed that Flo Rida decided not to fulfill his commitment to appear at the Fat As Butter festival on Saturday, but we are more disappointed that he let his fans down.”

While a rep for Mounties, where the singer was due to host a show on the same night, added,

“Mounties (like the Fat as Butter Festival in Newcastle) pre paid his performance fee in full... every time we got our hopes up that he was in transit to the venue, we would find out that he had not in fact left his hotel room. The most difficult part was then turning him away from the Club when he finally arrived nearly 3 hours after he was due on stage. We did not believe he was in a suitable condition to perform.”
