The pair haven’t spoken since Slash left the band in 1996, but in a recent interview the rocker revealed that he actually considered putting the long-running feud behind them, and calling a truce so he could include Axl’s distinctive voice on a few of his tracks.
Talking to Classic Rock, Slash said:
"When I was in the middle of this process there were a lot of singers' names who flew through my mind during the process," he told Classic Rock.
"You are living in 'Singer Land' so all you are thinking about is singers. The thought of him crossed my mind at one point. I thought, 'Axl could sing the s**t out of any of these songs.'"
But when pressed as to why Axl wasn’t used in the end, Slash quipped: "I wanted to put the record out in this millennium."
Axl’s last Guns N’ Roses album ‘Chinese Democracy’ took a whopping 13 years to release. No word on whether the two will ever consider calling an end to the war of words any time soon!
