Many watched with a mixture of horror and intrigue during Britney Spears' mental unraveling. In two years, she experienced more turmoil than it takes others a lifetime to accumulate, including the birth of her second son, a messy divorce, resulting custody battle, rebound lovers, head shaving incidents, public meltdowns and a slated live MTV VMA performance.

Many wondered what exactly was going through her head (or wasn't), and as it turns out, so does she!

In an interview with MTV.com which goes to air in the states at the end of November, she said: "I sit there and I look back and I'm like, 'I'm a smart person. What the hell was I thinking? I've been through a lot in the past two or three years, and there's a lot that people don't know about me that I want them to know."

Hence the unveiling of a 90 minute documentary starring the most fascinating pop star of the nauties. The special tentatively titled "Britney: For The Record," was executive-produced by Brits' manager Larry Rudolph and features behind-the-scenes footage of the singer and her talking about her life over the past two years.

"I wanted to make this film because I started to feel like I wasn't being seen in the light that I wanted to be seen in. This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what I've been through and where I'm headed."

The documentary will combine personal stories with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage including press tours, the recording studio, rehearsals, her home town of Louisiana and the video shoot for her latest single 'Womanizer'.

"Sometimes it can get lonely 'cause you don't open the gate. I'm stuck in this place, and I just cope every day."

Brit is now well and truly on the comeback trail. With her leaked first single 'Womaniser' receiving positive reviews, her sixth album 'Circus' is slated for a 2nd December release, which happens to co-incide on her 27 birthday.

Good times, bad times and everything in between, we just can't get enough of Brit.
