The starlet, who often shies away from the flashy, flesh-baring costumes preferred by her contemporaries, is more at home when she's on stage with her guitar, wearing comfy jeans and trainers.
So when the singer announced that there would be ‘theatrics’ in store when she performs at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, message boards were alight with speculation about what the down-to-earth star has in mind.
The country singing sensation, is making her MTV Video Music Awards debut this September, and is ecstatic about her upcoming performance.
“I’m so excited that MTV and the VMAs have invited me to perform, because I think this year’s show will be unlike anything they’ve ever done! MTV has been so good to me, and I could not be more excited about this year’s VMAs.”
The uber cutie, who last year interviewed celebs on the red carpet, will perform an exclusive version of her track ‘You Belong With Me’.
Taylor will be joined at the VMAs by fellow first-timers, Muse. Although the inclusion of the U.K rockers in the show raised a few eyebrows, frontman Matt Bellamy is stoked to be on the bill for one of the world’s most popular awards ceremonies.
“We are honoured to be invited to play at the VMAs which will be our first ever U.S. TV performance, and the first ever U.S. performance of our debut single from our new album ‘The Resistance’”
