So we decided to brave the organised chaos backstage, dodging managers, tough-looking security guards, bands’ entourages and more, to bring you a rare behind-the-scenes look at festival faves the Kaiser Chiefs, Warpaint and Foster The People as they take the stage with MTV’s ’AAA!’
Kicking off with day one - we hang out with rock chicks Warpaint as they joke around, adjust their clothes and calmly fine-tune their equipment before taking to take the stage.
And as echoes of “Warpaint, Warpaint” chants begin, it’s obvious the band can’t wait to get out there and give their rapturous fans what they’ve been waiting for.
Meanwhile, minutes before their set Foster The People are busy with some, um, hardcore prep of their own!
Cooling down from the suffocating heat with some pre-gig beers, singer Mark Foster gets his voice ready with a few loud “Yeeeeahs” and drummer Mark Pontius limbers up with a couple of stretches, as managers and roadies mill about, triple-checking everything is in place.
And for the Kaiser Chiefs there’s rounds of media to get through before they can even think about taking to the stage.
The seasoned rockers are in good spirits, messing about and exchanging in-jokes in their heavy UK accents. These guys are festival pros and are unfazed by having to do interview after interview, they certainly know how the game works!
With just enough time to swing by the artist bar for a few sneaky drinks, the lads are then ferried away in a waiting buggy, super stoked to rock out to the thousands of fans who’ve been desperately waiting for them at the Auditorium!
