The Coldplay frontman admitted he’s been so caught up in all the sporting action that it even caused him to mess up his set during a recent US gig.
According to The Sun, the singer forgot the lyrics to the band’s track ‘Warning Sign’ while performing in Boston.
"Oh s***. I was thinking about the Olympics,” he joked to the crowd.
“I was distracted. I was not in the break-up frame of mind and I was distracted. I was not in the break-up frame of mind and I should have been.
"I'm going to get back into it. I'm going to stop thinking about pole vault, things like that, and I'm going to focus back in on the song. So is everybody else.”
But, he didn’t stop there! The British hitmaker went on to defend his stage blunder further, adding,
“It's a big deal, man. We've never had the Olympics in our lifetime so you can't blame a band for thinking about it every once in a while - God, the f***ing Olympics are happening in London!"
After his mini rant, the 35-year-old, who’s set to perform with his group at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics, quickly changed his tune and got back to doing what he does best.
“F*** the Olympics. Let's have a f***ing great time in Boston," he said before kicking on with the show.
Meanwhile, the four-piece have more than just the Olympics to be buzzing about. The band have just been nominated for THREE gongs at the ‘2012 MTV Video Music Awards!’
