They might be starting side projects and solo careers like no one’s business, but take heart Fall Out Boy fans, the band is not breaking up!

Rumours started to swirl when Pete Wentz, who has recently launched his solo career and formed new band Black Cards, hinted that their break may be more than just temporary.

He tweeted: “A hiatus is forever until you get lonely or old. I don't plan on either. Can't imagine playing in FOB again.(sic)"

He later added: "As a band we grew apart. Letting go of this giant part of my life has been hard," which promptly sent fans into meltdown.

But according to contactmusic.com, Patrick Stump, who is currently launching his debut solo album, has different ideas of what a ‘break’ means, and cleared up the whispers that the band has broken up when he told US radio program The Gunz Show:

"Fall Out Boy never broke up. That never happened. We really need a sarcasm font on the internet. We never had that conversation. A lot of kids would come up to me and say 'It really sucks you guys broke up'. I'm like, 'Man, unless you know something I don't...”

"We just went on (a) break, you know, whatever. I just wanted to clear that up."
