It seems like your seatbelt isn’t the only belt that needs to be securely fastened when flying with Southwest Airlines – or that’s what Green Day’s lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong found out!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the famous punk rocker was marched off a flight before take-off because his jeans were “sagging” too low revealing his underpants.

Apparently one of the flight attendants was offended and asked him to pull them up.

A fellow passenger, also boarding the flight from Oakland to Burbank in LA, said the singer was shocked by the request.

“Don’t you have better things to do than worry about that?” he is reported to have said.

The attendant then threatened to remove him if he refused to do what was asked.

“I’m just trying to get to my f**king seat,” the singer said, which resulted in him and his travelling companion being escorted off.

Taking to Twitter the rockstar vented his frustration by posting,

“Just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low! What the f***? No joke!”

Brad Hawkins, a spokesman for the airline, released a statement saying Armstrong was allowed to catch the next flight to Burbank,

"As soon as we became aware of what had happened, we reached out to apologize for this Customer's experience. He elected to take the next flight. We followed up.. and, in our latest conversations, understand from the Customer the situation was resolved to his satisfaction."
