Australia’s finest singing sensations came together to celebrate their chart-topping success at the ‘ARIA #1 Chart Awards.’

Powderfinger, Hilltop Hoods, Eskimo Joe, Short Stack and many more hit the purple carpet at the Sydney Opera House to collect their awards for bagging a #1 over the past year.

The bash, hosted by Nova Melbourne star Dylan Lewis, kicked off with the first prize of the night to ‘Australian Idol’ star Guy Sebastian, who scored a No1 Chart Award for ‘Like It Like That’ and the gong for the decade’s highest-selling single with his smash hit ‘Angels Brought Me Here.’

Speaking about his win, the singer told the crowd,

“It is a massive honour just to have my name mentioned along people like Jimmy Barnes.

“I’m extremely grateful that I’m standing on this stage. I did have a unique entry into the industry but one that I believe that I've run with and worked with as hard as I could.”

Pop princess Delta Goodrem, who’s currently working on new material in Los Angeles, was also awarded the prestigious prize for her 14-times platinum album ‘Innocent Eyes’ being the highest-selling album of the decade.

Talking to fans from the States, the songstress said,

“I’m looking forward to making records that continue to hopefully top that.”

Meanwhile her hubby-to-be Brian McFadden, who’s single ‘Just Say So’ spent three weeks at number one earlier this year, was also celebrating his success Down Under from across the pond.

The former boyband star gushed,

“This is unbelievable, I can’t believe I’m getting an ARIA #1 award. I’ll be honest with you when Just Say So went to number one the first thing I said was am I gonna get an ARIA #1 Award, which is pretty sick!”

And another artist who couldn’t believe his luck was Eskimo Joe guitarist Joel Quartermain, who was there to pick up the gong for their album ‘Inshalla,’ on behalf of his bandmates.

Speaking about their latest achievement, he told the crowd,

"When we started this band we could not ever, possibly imagine that we'd be able to get a number one record - it just seemed completely impossible.”

Meanwhile rock legends Powderfinger, who’ve sold more than 2 million albums in Oz and are about to kick-off their final tour, drew the biggest cheers of the night when they took to the stage to collect their award for their fifth number one album, ‘Golden Rule.’

Guitarist Ian Haug took the chance on stage to thank their long-term followers for their support.

He said, “We’d all like to thank everyone who bought our album and been our fans, and we’ll buy their records when they do one!”

The ‘2010 ARIA Awards’ will also be held at the Sydney Opera House on November 7 and will see the addition of two new awards including ‘Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album’ and ‘Best Adult Alternative Album.’

Speaking about what we can expect from this year’s ceremony, Major Events Minister Kevin Greene revealed,

"Sydney is the natural home of the ARIA awards. The awards recognise Australia's top music artists, songwriters and producers and this year's awards will be bigger and better.”
