Tune-in to MTV Classic on channel 810 @ 5pm (AEST) for 'MTV Classic: The Launch'.
The celebs were out in force for the launch of our hot new channel ‘MTV Classic.’
The epic music bash, which took Melbourne’s Palace Theatre by storm, saw a huge array of stars strut the red carpet in their finest rock n’ roll gear.
Leading the way was rock god Slash, who headlined ‘MTV Classic: The Launch’, performing tracks from the Guns N’ Roses years through to his recently realised album ‘Slash.’
Talking to MTV, the iconic guitarist said,” We’re having a blast, we’re really having a good time.
The fans here are still a surprise, but even more than that it’s so gratifying because I love it here, so to have that people still embrace us like that is a great feeling.”
Joining the rockstar on stage was Wolfmother’s Andrew Stockdale.
Gushing about performing with his idol, he told us, “Slash is the spirit, he has it all. It’s great to even be around one of the greatest guitar heroes of all time.”
Sporting a glam fur coat, matched with shiny leggings, he also confessed the secret behind his hot new look. “I’ve just stolen your MTV representative’s clothes. I saw her wearing these pants and I saw this jacket and I said ‘You’ve got to get me one of these!’”
But he wasn't the only one who performed with Slash. Rose Tatoo frontman Angry Anderson was also there to reunite with his old pal on stage for the first time in 18 years.
Talking about the show, he said, "It’s a gig and it’s very important and it’s another chance to go on and sing with a great band and that’s what I love the most.”
Joining in the fun on stage was pop princess Vanessa Amorosi, who was there to present some of Slash’s biggest hits.
Snubbing the popular dress code of black or leather, the singer opted for white instead. She told us, “I thought I’d go for a white number as I have a million black dresses, and then just added some ruffles with feathers.”
And a surprise contender for the biggest celebrity Slash fan was Brian McFadden. The former Westlife singer confessed he’s a huge supporter of his work.
“Slash in general is just an icon. You can never forget November rain, everyone wanted to stand on a cliff and play guitar after that. When I was in a boy band we sung on top of a cliff because of that moment.”
Adding an extra hit of glamour to the carpet, was MTV’s finest VJ’s Erin McNaught and Ruby Rose.
Ruby, who brought her mother Katia, a huge fan of Gun’s N’ Roses, couldn’t stop gushing about meeting Slash earlier in the day.
She said, “At first I thought I was potentially going to vomit on him, but it turned out well. He was so down to earth.”
And Erin, dressed in a sexy black mini and sparkly jacket, was equally as impressed. She told us, “Slash is one of my idols. I love him in November Rain. I think I might get a little bit star stuck tonight!”
Don’t miss the entire show when it airs on ‘MTV Classic’ at 5pm on May 1. MTV Classic is available on Channel 810 on Foxtel and Austar.
