Goodbye ‘Yellow Brick Road’, hello Australia! In news that is sure to send fans into meltdown, Sir Elton John has announced he is set to embark on a five day tour Down Under, kicking off November 30!
The ‘Your Song’ hit-maker, who has sold over 500 million records and scored numerous Grammys, Oscars, Tonys and Brit Awards during his 50 year career, will kick off his ‘Elton John & His Band’ tour at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, and also make stops at the Hunter Valley, Coopers Brewery in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.
"To draw comparisons with Sir Elton John is impossible," Chugg Entertainment said in a statement.
It is not known whether the flamboyant ‘Rocketman’, whose last trip down under was in 2007, will bring his new four month old son Zachary, and partner David Furnish.
There’s also rumours that the legendary hit-maker could make a surprise appearance at the ARIAs 25th year Anniversary, with the award ceremony falling around the same time as his tour.
An executive said "It would be a massive coup," reports eltonjohnnews.blogspot. "It's perfect timing."
Elton hosted the first ever ARIA Awards at Sydney’s Sheraton Wentworth Hotel in 1987, so an appearance would certainly be fitting – let’s cross those fingers!
The British singer will juggle his 15th Australian tour with his new three-year residency in Las Vegas.
Early bird ticket presales are available from May 16 @ 5pm. General release go on sale May 24 through Ticketek, but you’d better be quick! Dates below…
