Britney Spears, who performed ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ with the music legend at the 30th Anniversary Celebration for Jackson back in 2001, has released this statement to People Magazine:
“I was so excited to see his show in London,” Brit said in a statement today. “We were going to be on tour in Europe at the same time and I was going to fly in to see him. He has been an inspiration throughout my entire life and I’m devastated he’s gone!”
Another star to share the stage with the King of Pop Justin Timberlake, opened up to ET about the loss of one of the world’s greatest entertainers.
"I can't find the words right now to express how deeply saddened I am by Michael's passing. We have lost a genius and a true ambassador of not only Pop music, but of all music. He has been an inspiration to multiple generations and I will always cherish the moments I shared with him on stage and all of the things I learned about music from him and the time we spent together. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones."
There are unconfirmed reports that that Justin may be considering stepping up to the plate and performing Jackson’s concert series in the UK.
The Jackson family has also issued a statement to fans, conveyed by family patriarch Joseph Jackson. It reads:
"In one of the darkest moments of our lives we find it hard to find the words appropriate to this sudden tragedy we all had to encounter. Our beloved son, brother and father of three children has gone so unexpectedly, in such a tragic way and much too soon. It leaves us, his family, speechless and devastated to a point, where communication with the outside world seems almost impossible at times.
"We miss Michael endlessly, our pain cannot be described in words. But Michael would not want us to give up now. So we want to thank all of his faithful supporters and loyal fans worldwide, you — who Michael loved so much. Please do not despair, because Michael will continue to live on in each and every one of you. Continue to spread his message, because that is what he would want you to do. Carry on, so his legacy will live forever.
"In addition, Joseph Jackson wishes to personally convey: 'My grandchildren are deeply moved by all the love and support you have shown for them and their father, Michael Jackson.'
"Janet Jackson is grief-stricken and devastated at the sudden loss of her brother," manager Kenneth Crear said in a statement to MTV News. "She is in pre-production on a film and is flying immediately to California to be with her family."
Slash, who teamed up with Jackson a number of times, including a legendary 1995 VMA appearance released this statement to MTV news. The former Guns N' Roses guitarist said,
"Michael Jackson was one of the most talented and dynamic performer/singer/songwriters I ever had the pleasure of working with, he was amazing.
Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding his personal life in recent years overshadowed his unparalleled contributions to the music world, which is a tragedy in and of itself. But his music will live on forever no matter what and his memory will be adored and admired for years to come."
Michael sold more than 750 million albums over his four decade career. The singer, who died at the age of 50 on Thursday, goes to the grave still holding the all-time record for album sales for 1982's ‘Thriller.’ Over his nearly four-decade career, he sold more than 750 million albums.
