First up, RnB superstar Usher hit Australia in March this year for a series of steamy shows. Taking to the stage with futuristic warriors as back-up dancers and fireworks by the bucketload, Usher showed off his vocals and his fancy footwork, busting old favourites as well as tracks from his latest album ‘Raymond v. Raymond.’
Later that month sultry songstress Rihanna hit town for her ‘Last Girl On Earth’ tour – and it seems she had no trouble mixing business with pleasure, stopping in at a local sex shop during her day off! Meanwhile pop Princess Katy Perry brought her massive ‘California Dreams’ tour to Oz and NZ, complete with a candy covered stage, mimes, acrobats, dancing and plenty of glitter!
Chris Brown and Justin Bieber both burst onto our shores in April – and the pals even managed to team up for a duet during Justin’s Sydney show! Chris tweeted shortly after "the show tonight was craaaaaazzzzzzyyyyyy!!!! @justinbieber LEGGGOO! shut it down".
Teen star Miley Cyrus brought her ‘Gypsy Heart’ tour to Australia in the middle of the year. Prowling around the stage in black leather hot pants, thigh-high boots and a diamante encrusted bra, the ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ singer belted out a mix of originals and covers, with her ballad ‘The Climb’ getting the biggest reaction of the night.
In October, Canadian rockers Simple Plan played a string of shows Down Under, with a set which included crowd pleasers 'Perfect', 'Addicted' and 'Welcome To My Life' as well as a few surprise covers including the Black Eyed Peas party starter 'I Gotta Feeling' and Pink’s 'Raise Your Glass'.
And last but by no means least, rap icon and global superstar Eminem hit Oz for a series of sold out gigs in Melbourne and Sydney. With support from Lil Wayne, the rapper hit the stage for an hour and a half, playing a stack of his hit tracks including ‘Not Afraid,’ ‘Cleaning Out My Closet’ and old school favourites ‘The Real Slim Shady’ and ‘My Name Is.’
